The Gunlock Rodeo has always been a fun and patriotic event that our family has enjoyed over the years because along with the entertainment, the whole evening is saturated in that Americana, cozy, small town vibe. The rodeo itself runs for three evenings, July 5-7th and features contestants from all over the western United States.

Starting Independence Day, Wednesday at 8 a.m. they're having a flag raising ceremony at the Town Hall followed by a breakfast and a parade. Then, the rodeo is Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m.

The rodeo events include barrel racing, team roping, calf roping and breakaway roping. In between the rodeo events, kids can ride a calf or participate in the chicken chase which is always amusing to watch and a blast for the kids! And it gives the kids a chance to stretch their legs and run off some steam in between the rodeo events.

Entry fees are free for kids 5 and under and just $5 per person for a whole evenings worth of fun activities. Dinner is available for purchase at the concessions stand and Friday evening they are serving up "Steak 'n' Taters."

The Gunlock Rodeo is located on the south side of town at the Gunlock Rodeo Grounds, 77 N. Main St. Gunlock, Utah

You might want to bring your stadium chairs and/or blankets to sit on to make it more comfortable because the whole rodeo runs for about 2-3 hours.
